Dundalk WU19 4-0 Bray Wanderers
After three weeks without a game, our WU19 team returned to EA SPORTS LOI Academy action with a bang on Sunday by putting four goals past Bray Wanderers without reply at Oriel Park.
Zara Farrell was the star of the show for Jason McConville’s side, helping herself to a hat-trick as the Lilywhites picked up their second win of the campaign, the club’s first at this level.
Dundalk opened the scoring in the seventh minute after a well-worked move down the left ended with Sarah Byrne squaring the ball for Farrell who made no mistake.
Molly Williams doubled the advantage when she took advantage of some slack marking in the Bray Wanderers penalty area to turn the ball home from a free kick with 25 minutes played.
Farrell made out 3-0 on the stroke of halftime with a crisp drive and she completed her hat-trick with another fine goal in the 69th minute, Williams providing both assists.
“It was a really good performance,” said WU19 head coach Jason McConville. “We really dominated the game from start to finish and we excelled at certain times.
“Development is the name of the game for us and we keep improving and we are getting stronger as the season goes on.
“They are a great bunch and they have answered every question that I have asked of them since I came in last year. There are lots of things for us to build on and that really excites me going forward.”
Next up for the WU19 team is a trip to league leaders Peamount United next Sunday.
