We can confirm that our appeal to the Leinster FA, in relation to our recent removal from the Leinster Senior Cup, has been successful.
A date for our fourth-round fixture against Shelbourne, due to take place at Oriel Park, will be announced in due course. The winners of the tie will host Wexford FC in the quarter-finals.
Speaking ahead of Friday’s League of Ireland game against St Patrick’s Athletic, Dundalk head coach Stephen O’Donnell said he was bemused as to why the club were ‘booted’ out of the competition in the first place.
“It was a non-issue really,” he said. “I don’t how we were sort of booted out of it so I was never in doubt that we were going to be reinstated.
“A date hasn’t been set for the game with Shelbourne yet, but it’ll come at a good time for players who are coming back from injuries so it will be really beneficial for us.”
Dundalk, who last won the trophy in 2015, play host to Shelbourne in a league game at Oriel Park on Monday, March 6th.
