We are looking forward to welcoming local man James Meenan and his family to Oriel Park for the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division fixture with Shamrock Rovers this evening.
James was part of the Irish team that won a gold medal at the Special Olympics in Berlin last week with a win over Morocco in the final.
The 27-year-old, who hails from Greenacres and plays with Newry City’s Special Olympics team, scored in Ireland’s 3-0 win over Uganda in the qualifier.
James has quite the collection of Olympic medals. In 2015, he also won gold, silver and bronze at the Los Angeles Games.
