Senan Mullen has been called into the Republic of Ireland MU19 squad for round one of the UEFA European Championship Qualifiers in Albania this week.
The Lilywhites midfielder, who made his debut for Tom Mohan’s side in the friendly win against the Faroe Islands last month, has joined up with the squad ahead of their opening game against the hosts on Wednesday at 1pm.
That game is followed by a clash against Slovenia on Saturday, November 18th before the young Boys In Green bring the window to a close against Belgium next Tuesday, November 21st.
“Our players are coming off the bounce of two victories against Scotland and the Faroe Islands but they know they’re coming up against challenging opponents,” said Mohan.
“Albania are the home team, they’ll be organised and they’ll make it difficult for us, as will Slovenia who have a lot of threats. Then you have Belgium who have so much quality throughout their teams and are always dangerous.
“It will be a challenge but one we are looking forward to. I think the fact we have so many of our squad getting a lot of minutes and playing first-team football in the League of Ireland is a testament to them, their coaches and their clubs and we hope that quality shines through on the international stage.”
