We are delighted to announce the signing of Robbie Mahon from Motherwell.
The 21-year-old Dubliner, who came through the academy system at Bohemians, spent almost two years in Scotland where he won the League One title during a loan spell at Dunfermline.
Robbie is our third new signing of the off-season, following the earlier arrivals of Dara Keane and Koen Oosterbrink.
“I’m delighted that it’s done and I’m able to get in and meet up with the lads,” said Mahon.
“After a couple of years in Scotland, it was a big decision to come home to Ireland but after speaking to the gaffer, he really sold Dundalk to me and I can’t wait to get going.”
The former Irish U17 international arrives on the back of a successful loan spell at Edinburgh City which saw him score seven goals in just 10 starts for the Scottish League One outfit.
“It was a short loan with Edinburgh but I enjoyed it and I’m hoping to take that good form into pre-season and then into the real thing in February,” he said.
“One of the benefits of coming over from the UK is that I’ve been playing and I’m match-fit so I’m looking forward to the pre-season games over the next few weeks before the opening league game with Shamrock Rovers in February.”
“Robbie will bring lots of pace, he can carry the ball well, he has a good left foot and he will be a real threat on transitions,” said Dundalk FC head coach Stephen O’Donnell.
“He is still only 20 but he has shown that he can play and score goals in men’s football. We spoke to people in Scotland and his attitude and workrate is exceptional and he’ll bring a lot to the team and the dressing room.”
