Dundalk FC MU19 4-0 Derry City
LOI Academy MU19 League 2023 Tier 2
Darren Brownlie and Cameron Elliott both played for 80 minutes in our M1U9 team’s 4-0 win against Derry City at Oriel Park on Sunday afternoon.
The league fixture came just six days after Callum Bonner’s double and an Anto Moyo strike booked Tiarnan Mulvenna’s side a place in the quarter-finals of the Enda McGuill Cup with a 3-1 win over the same opposition at Oriel Park.
On Sunday, Elliott opened the scoring in the 33rd minute and Dundalk pushed on after the break with Bonner replicating his two-goal salvo from the previous game to put the Lilywhites 3-0 up with 78 minutes played.
Moyo maintained his run of scoring when he added a fourth in the 83rd minute to put the seal on another excellent win for Mulvenna’s in-form side.
“It was a really good week for us,” said the MU19 head coach. “Two wins over the same opposition was nice and to see an improvement in the performance over the two games was even better.
“We are on a really good run at the minute, having won seven of our last eight games, which is really good for the lads’ development.
“That has coincided with Callum and Anto’s form,” he added. “Callum has scored twice in his last three games while Anto has scored and assisted in his last four which is really positive as he is coming back after a three-month layoff.
“To have Cami and Darren involved was great for the young lads in our team. Darren played alongside Luke Mulligan, who is 15, and Jake Hough, who was at left back, is 16 so they will benefit hugely from that.”
