Two of our academy sides were in action at the weekend with contrasting outcomes in both matches.

Hughie and TJ on target again

Our MU14 team produced a fine display in their penultimate game of the season against Derry City on Saturday.

Hughie Martin (2) and TJ Molloy, who both enjoyed an excellent season, were both on target for Shane Grimes’s side at Oriel Park.

The MU14s wrap up their year with a home game against Finn Harps this Saturday.

DUNDALK FC MU14: Gevorg Amirkhanyan, Michael Cummins, Pauric Maguire, Sean Spaight, Calum Woods, Jordan Vocella, Adam McGrane, Hugh Martin, TJ Molloy, Shaun Platt, Daniel O’Brien. Subs: Ross Browne, Shaun McGeary, Shea Savage, Mateusz Wrobel, Noah Boylan, Michael McDonald.

Shield heartbreak for WU19s

A brilliant first season at under-19 level came to a disappointing end for our women’s team on Sunday as they were beaten 2-1 at Oriel Park in the quarter-finals of the LOI Shield.

Two early goals from Yasmin Saidi put the visitors in the driving seat and although Zara Farrell pulled one back midway through the second half, Jason McConville’s side just couldn’t find the equaliser.

DUNDALK FC WU19: Caoimhe Magee, Laura Woods, Zara Farrell, Ciara White, Sarah Byrne, Molly Williams, Madeleine McKinley, Ella McKenna, Stephanie Cunningham, Jodie McQuillan, Maggie Holland. Subs: Kerry Ann Gavin, Abigail Martin, Hannah Cooney, Shauna Bell, Ellie Smyth, Robyn Chidgey, Ava McGeer, Charlotte Fogarty.

MU17s Ready For Title Showdown

Our MU17 team had a weekend off ahead of their last game of the season, away to Shamrock Rovers next Saturday.

The young Lilywhites are top of the Elite Phase table on 27 points, level with Shelbourne, but with a goal difference of plus one.

If they can equal, or better, Shelbourne’s result against Treaty United in Limerick, Cian Maher and Ciaran Cleary’s team will be crowned champions.
