We would like to say a massive word of thanks to our good friends at Fyffes who have kindly sponsored the SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division game with Cork City at Oriel Park.
Although Fyffes is a global company, we started out as a family business more than a century ago through the McCann’s fruit shop, right here in Dundalk.
Many things have changed since then, but we have always endeavoured to stay true to our roots and support the communities in which we live and work.
We at Fyffes have been very fortunate to partner with Dundalk FC over many years – through the ups and downs, winning and losing, from fighting relegation to sampling the dizzying highs of League of Ireland glory and UEFA Europa League football.
We have enjoyed working with the team in Oriel – as the main sponsor, rolling out charity initiatives, hosting family days, sponsoring children’s camps, providing fruit for players and producing some great videos together.
Most recently, we have worked with the club to develop the Harry Taaffe Mental Health and Wellbeing Programme; football, and sport in general, can play an important role in opening up discussions and it is our hope that this programme will go some way to breaking the stigma of talking about mental health.
