Dundalk FC are delighted to announce that the Indoor Pitches in the Youth Development Centre at Oriel Park have been reopened to the public and are now available for bookings.
Construction on the Youth Development Centre began in 2009 and the Indoor Pitches were first opened to the public this month in 2011, with the facility later rebranded as Oriel Active.
Having been closed for a number of years, with the Centre exclusively housing activities for the club’s teams, new owner John Temple made it a priority to reopen its doors to the community and the first step in doing so is allowing public use of the Indoor Pitches.
The facility contains three partitioned five-a-side pitches which are supported by changing and shower facilities.
The pitches are available to all sporting enthusiasts, both serious and fun, to players of all levels and across a number of different sports, with the club already receiving interest from GAA and rugby teams. The facility is also ideal for hosting sports days.
Welcoming the announcement, Dundalk FC’s Nita Whelan said: “As Commercial Manager, I am delighted to announce that our Indoor Pitches are now open for bookings.
“With winter approaching, we know how important indoor facilities are for training across all sports, and we’re excited to offer this space to the community.
“We are actively exploring every commercial avenue to ensure Oriel Park thrives once more, and we deeply appreciate the continued support from everyone. We look forward to welcoming the town and all its sports teams to make the most of these new facilities.”
The pitches will be open from 7am-10pm each day, with a one-hour slot costing €50. Bookings can be made through contacting Nita at nita.whelan@dundalkfc.com, with the club currently in the process of setting up a user-friendly online booking portal.
The club is also inviting local companies to contact us should they be interested in advertising on the boards along the pitches.
We are aware of interest in using our multi-sport hard court which is situated adjacent to the Indoor Pitches, and anyone wishing to discuss its use further should get in touch with Nita.
The club is also planning on reopening the Centre’s doors to children’s parties, with full details on that to be shared in due course, while the on-site gym is scheduled to open in the coming weeks.
Thank you to our Development Group, J-Tec Control Systems, and our dedicated Dundalk FC staff and volunteers for your hard work in making this happen.
