Dundalk FC are delighted to announce the signing of attacking midfielder Harry Groome, who arrives at Oriel Park having spent the past two seasons at Bray Wanderers.

Groome, who turned 23 last month, came through the Shelbourne Academy where he played for their Under-17 and Under-19 teams, before spending 2021 on loan at Wexford FC.

After impressing in that spell, he was signed permanently by Wexford for the following campaign and was almost an ever-present as he won the club’s Players’ Player of the Year under ex-Lilywhite Ian Ryan, who then brought Harry to the Carlisle Grounds for 2023.

Groome has racked up over 120 appearances in the SSE Airtricity Men’s First Division over the past four years, and scored in this season’s SSE Airtricity Men’s Promotion/Relegation playoff final where Bray lost out to Drogheda United.

“I’m delighted to be here, I’m really looking forward to the year,” Groome told DFCTV, after putting pen to paper on Saturday. “Working with Ciarán (Kilduff) and Ken (Kiernan) is going to be very good. It seems like a good group we’re putting together.

“The move came around very quick after the playoff final. It was the next day Ken got in touch with me and it was a quick turnaround. I met a few of the lads today and I know a few of them from playing in the league.

“I’ve been very impressed with the facilities, with the gym and media room. It’s a great setup here.”

Groome has been described by Dundalk’s management team as “a technical player with incredible vision and a high level of stamina, whose composure and vision will see him be a hugely important part of Dundalk this season”.

Welcome to Oriel, Harry!
