Dundalk FC has always enjoyed a strong and enduring relationship with the Cavan Monaghan Underage League (CMUL), a connection that continues to play a vital role in nurturing young talent across the region.
Several of our current players came through the CMUL system, showcasing the league’s importance as a foundation for aspiring footballers. That’s why it was such a pleasure to accept an invitation from two of our own coaches - Peter O’Hare (MU15) and Rachel O’Hanlon (WU19s), to attend a very special occasion at Monaghan United’s ground on Sunday.
Both Peter and Rachel have been heavily involved in the CMUL for many years and remain strong advocates for youth development at every level of the game.
Representing Dundalk FC on the day were three outstanding female players: Ciara Brady and Ella McKenna, both of whom rose through the ranks of the CMUL, and Jennifer Freeman, Dundalk FC’s longest-serving female player. The trio were more than happy to present medals to the young players who took part in the day’s festivities.
It was a wonderful opportunity to give back to a league that continues to contribute so much to Irish football, and perhaps inspire a few future Lilywhites along the way.
We’d like to thank the CMUL and Monaghan United for their warm welcome, and we look forward to seeing what the next generation of talent brings to the pitch.
