Just three of our academy teams were in action on Saturday and Sunday with the performance of the weekend undoubtedly going to the MU15s who have now won eight of their last nine games.


Dundalk FC MU15 6-1 Longford Town
EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU15 Phase Two Tier North

Our MU15s maintained their excellent start to the Phase Two Tier North section with a handsome win over Longford Town at Glenmuir Park on Saturday.

TJ Molloy, pictured above, led the way for Stephen Hutchinson’s side with a hat trick while Pauric Maguire, Shea Savage and Josh Weldon also found the net in a 6-1 victory.

The lads have now hit 11 goals in their last two games and are six points clear at the top of the table with eight games played.

Next up is a trip to TU Dublin in Blanchardstown on Saturday at 3pm to face St Patrick’s Athletic in the second round of the Michael Hayes Cup.

Athlone Town 1-0 Dundalk FC MU20
EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU20 Tier Two North

The MU20s made the trip home from Athlone empty-handed on Saturday afternoon following a one-goal loss to the Midlanders in their third game of the EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU20 Tier Two North

Brandon Wykes scored the only goal of the game in the 42nd minute to leave Dundalk searching for their first win after three games,

Next up for Dave Mackey and his men is a trip to fellow strugglers, Finn Harps, on Saturday, August 31st.

Dundalk FC MU14 2-3 Drogheda United
EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU14 Group C Phase Two

Our MU14 side came out on the wrong end of a five-goal thriller in their EA SPORTS LOI Academy Group C Phase Two opener against Drogheda United at Glenmuir Park on Sunday.

Josh Weldon got the Lilywhites off to a flying start when he found the net after just five minutes but the Boynesiders replied with two goals in the space of six minutes through Luke Kearns and Miguel Homeric Leonhardt.

Weldon, who also scored in the MU15 team’s handsome win over Longford Town 24 hours earlier, made it 2-2 when he converted a 50th-minute penalty but substitute Daniel Raji’s strike on the hour mark secured the Drogs the win.

Next up for Cian Mulligan’s side is a trip west to face Sligo Rovers on Sunday, September 1st at 2pm.

International Assessments

Three of our boys’ academy players attended the Republic of Ireland assessment day at FAI HQ in Abbotstown recently. Jamie Grace part in the U15 section and TJ Molloy and Sean Spaight in the U16. Well done, lads!
