TJ Molloy and Sean Spaight have been named in the Republic of Ireland MU15 squad for this Saturday’s international friendly against Australia in Dublin.
The two lads (pictured above), who were regulars in Thomas McShane’s MU15 academy side last season, will be hoping to build on their recent performances with the Irish squad, most notably in a three-team UEFA Development Tournament in Serbia before Christmas.
Former Ardee Celtic starlet TJ scored in a 3-1 win over Greece while former Rock Celtic player Sean was handed the captain’s armband against the host nation in game two.
The lads finished the tournament on a high and TJ scored Ireland’s first goal, and Sean also started, in a 3-1 win over Venezuela that saw the young Boys In Green return home with the trophy.
Irish head coach Jason Donohue has named a 19-player squad for the game against the Aussies’ U16 side, with 18 of those playing in the League of Ireland academy.
Elsewhere, Aidan Russell-Vargas, who made his first-team debut for the club in a friendly with Shelbourne last week, and Tom McLoughlin have been named in the Republic of Ireland Schools U18 squad for a friendly against Australia at Home Farm on Saturday. Kickoff at Whitehall is at 2pm.
