EA SPORTS LOI Academy MU15 League Group A
Finn Harps 2-6 Dundalk MU15
Our MU15s produced the academy performance of the weekend by putting six past Finn Harps in Letterkenny on Saturday afternoon.
Shane Grimes’s side, who went into the game off the back of a loss against St Patrick’s Athletic and a draw against Derry City in their opening two games, got off to a blistering start, hitting four without reply in the opening 45 minutes.
TJ Molloy opened the scoring in the 10th minute after a mazy run from Shea Savage and two quickfire goals from Hugh Martin put the Lilywhites in the driving seat before Pauric Maguire scored directly from a corner to make it 4-0.
Leighton Green pulled one back for the hosts but further efforts from Alex Gaughran and Shaun Platt saw Dundalk wrap up the win before Harps hit a late consolation.
“The lads were brilliant,” said Grimes. “We came out of the blocks really fast and we were ruthless and clinical when the chances came around, which was very pleasing.
“We lacked that little bit of quality in the final third against Derry the week before but the response was brilliant and it was even more pleasing because we had some of our U14 players in the squad who were able to get some time off the bench.”
