If you were trying to predict who the match-winner of Thursday night’s Louth Derby would be, then the chances are Daniel Cleary would have been way down your list!
Prolific is certainly not a word that could be associated with the 25-year-old Lilywhites centre back. Prior to Thursday night, he had just six league goals to his name for the club but come the end of this season number seven could well go down as the most important of them all.
Thursday night’s late strike was Cleary’s first since the Europa League playoff win over KI Klaksvik at the Aviva Stadium in October 2020 and, speaking afterwards, he said it was worth the wait!
