Dundalk FC, in collaboration with the Shed Side Army, is proud to host a charity sleepout in support of the Dundalk Simon Community on Saturday 7th December, from 8pm to 8am in the Shed Side of Oriel Park.

This initiative aims to raise vital funds and awareness for those experiencing homelessness, emphasising the importance of community solidarity in tackling this pressing issue. By coming together for this event, we hope to make a meaningful difference in the lives of those in need while highlighting the power of football in uniting people for a greater cause.

Dundalk Simon Community is a non-profit, registered charitable organisation in Dundalk Town and also serves the North East of the country, providing safe, supportive shelter and services for people who are homeless or at risk of homelessness. All funds raised by this sleepout will go directly to the Dundalk Simon Community.

Yvonne Carr, of Dundalk Simon Community, said: “We are delighted to be the recipients of the funds raised by the Shed Side Army sleepout. Dundalk Simon Community are facing challenges today, tomorrow and in the future. The support from the Shed Side Army sleepout will help ease the challenges we face and help to maintain our service.

“Your support is crucial to our efforts to improve the service we provide in the local area. Thank you in advance for your commitment to helping the local homeless community. We wish you luck with your sleepout and thank you in advance, from everyone in the Dundalk Simon Community.”

Aoife Burns, Dundalk FC Football Social Responsibility Officer, said: “When Yvonne from Dundalk Simon Community first got in contact with us over the possibility of a sleepout at the ground, the lads from the Shed Side Army supporters group came straight into my mind. They have been huge supporters and advocates of the Simon Community over the years and we are delighted to collaborate with them for this fantastic community initiative.”

Ross McNally, a member of the Shed Side Army supporters group, spoke about this initiative, saying: “We at the Shed Side Army firmly believe that the plight of homelessness is a tragedy at any time but especially at this time of year. We also firmly believe in the community spirit of Dundalk.”

Come along on the night and join in, even just for an hour to support all those who are sleeping out so others don’t have to.
