Dundalk FC defender Seán Spaight has been nominated for Ireland Under-15 Player of the Year, at the upcoming 34th FAI International Awards.
Spaight, who recently won the Victory Shield as captain with the Ireland Under-16s alongside Dundalk teammate TJ Molloy, was named on the Lilywhites’ first-team bench for their final SSE Airtricity Men’s Premier Division fixture of the season in Drogheda earlier last week, a game in which Molloy featured.
Blackrock man Spaight’s performances on the international stage have now been recognised with this nomination, where he will go up against Cork City’s David Dunne and Southampton’s George Moloney.
The Awards will take place next Thursday, 14th November, and the winners will be presented with their trophies in the Aviva Stadium ahead of the UEFA Nations League game between Ireland and Finland.
The performances taken into account are from June 2023 to June 2024. A jury from Soccer Writers’ Ireland helped with the selection of certain categories to help honour those who excelled over the previous year.
