Darragh Leahy’s four-year spell at Oriel Park has come to an end following the defender’s move to Waterford FC.
The 25-year-old joined Dundalk from Bohemians ahead of the 2020 season and went on to make over 100 appearances for the club. He scored three goals, including a memorable brace against Drogheda United at Oriel Park in April 2022.
Leahy was a part of the Lilywhites squad that won the FAI Cup and reached the group stages of the UEFA Europa League in 2020 and he leaves with the best wishes and thanks of everyone at Dundalk Football Club.
“Darragh has been a great servant to the club,” said head coach Stephen O’Donnell. “His attitude is second to none, even when he’s not playing, and he trains well every day.
“He has been brilliant to manage and I’m sure I speak for the players when I say he is an excellent teammate. We wish him nothing but the best in the future.”
Leahy will link up with former teammate Robbie McCourt at the RSC. The Dubliner rejoined the Blues last week following the expiration of his contract at Oriel Park.
Goalkeeper Mark Byrne’s departure has also been confirmed. The Knockbridge-man has joined Glenavon, who are managed by former Dundalk midfielder Stephen McDonnell.
