Dundalk FC players Nathan Shepperd, John Mountney, Keith Ward and John Martin paid a visit to the premises of Dundalk Dog Rescue (DDR) recently.

The players were given a guided tour of DDR’s facilities and got to meet, and play, with some of the characters that were eagerly waiting on a new owner to give them a new home!

Dundalk Dog Rescue is a voluntary non-profit organisation that aims to save, rehabilitate and rehome dogs as well as promote responsible dog ownership in our local community.

Established in 2005 by Ann Moore, DDR has grown year-by-year and moved into its current base in Dromiskin, which was officially opened last weekend, in October 2022.

Since then, over 200 dogs have passed through its doors, making DDR one of the busiest rescue centres in the country.

DDR holds a number of fundraising events throughout the year. Upcoming initiatives include a bucket collection that will take place in town on Saturday, October 14th while the organisation will also release its annual Christmas cards and calendars before Christmas.

Donations and kennel sponsorship options are available via the DDR website and Facebook page. The cost of sponsoring a kennel is ā‚¬365 a year which covers the cost of cleaning, heating and general maintenance of the kennel.

Dundalk Dog Rescue also relies heavily on volunteers who give up their time to help walk, feed, play and transport dogs. If you would like to help out in any way, email volunteer@dundalkdogrescue.ie
